Darrell Diggins Debuts!

Welcome! Come in and make yourself at home. This is my first Web blog, my first entry into that pitch black and blinding white space known as the World Wide Web, or the Internet. I am as excited as I am spooked by what lies beneath and ahead.

This Web site (if I am successful) will be a space for personal excavation and public outrage, and everything between. It will affirm, bemoan, celebrate, denounce, encourage, ferret and goad. And more.

Though this space is by me, it is hardly just for me. It is for us. May you remember this if or when I say something that pisses you off, and that I recall this when you write something that may make me want to shut this damn site down! There will be few sacred "cows," if any, and no subjects made immune. (In the motto of Congressional Black Caucus there are "no permanent friends, no permanent enemies, just permanent interests.") And please, no gratutitous profanity or unsubstantiated "name-calling." Yes, I will be the judge of that.

That said, I shall begin with me, Darrell Diggins--also known as DD, D2, Darrell Baldwin Diggins (mostly in matters of publishing) and, simply, Darrell.

I'm a Southerner (New Orleans), Black and proud. Gay. Flawed and flawless. I'm a writer and a reader. And I loooove food--though I do not abuse it. And I believe in the whole integration of mind, body and spirit. Those are a few of the terms that define my character. I'm tempted to tell you more, spout my pedigree, chart my politics, but why? The proof will be in my pudding.
